THE SHIELD(Quoted Directly from Marvel Wikia and Here)Captain America's shield in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (Earth-199999) is NOT indestructible; far from it. Created by Howard Stark from a vibranium alloy, the MCU shield is very tough but nowhere near as durable as Captain America's shield in the comics. With sufficient force or continued bombardment, a shield composed of only vibranium can be destroyed as the vibranium destabilizes.
Vibranium is not as hard or dense as Adamantium, but it is still very durable. It is also easier to make objects out of, such as the mesh costume the Black Panther wears. Vibranium absorbs more impact than adamantium.
The apparent observable vibratory rate of the molecules of the Vibranium itself does not noticeably increase when the Vibranium absorbs mechanical energy. The outside vibratory energy is stored within the bonds between the molecules making up the Vibranium.
As a result, a chunk of Vibranium which had absorbed a considerable amount of vibratory energy would be exceedingly hard to demolish. If enough force were were applied to this chunk to smash it, the Vibranium would explode, releasing much of the absorbed energy.

Captain America's MCU shield is composed singularly from a vibranium-metallic alloy. Durable, tough, damage resistant, capable of taking a hit from even Mjolnir, but far weaker than the comic version of Cap's shield.

In the comic universe, Captain America's shield is made from an Adamantium-Vibranium alloy which on Earth is considered to be one of the most durable and nigh-indestructible things ever made on Earth. Attempts to replicate the nature of this Proto-Adamantium shield led to the creation of True Adamantium, the second most indestructible material on Earth.
THE SUIT
While the modern-day helmet is crafted from materials strong enough to withstand direct gunfire, it isn't enough to stop a sniper's bullet. It is fitted with a two-way, closed communication device (or simply 'comm-link' for short) that is simultaneously connected to all of his teammates' devices, along with F.R.I.D.A.Y., Tony Stark's AI. Also recently installed in the newest rendition of the suit are sensors to measure various bodily statuses. It is capable of keeping the Captain's head cool in desert heat, or warm in Arctic cold, in order to provide him a clear head for strategizing.
"The S.H.I.E.L.D. Strike Stealth suit" is a new ‘stealth’ suit crafted from Kevlar and nomex, and allows for his shield to be attached to the back with a small magnetic alloy. It masks his heat signature entirely, making him undetectable to night-vision equipment. He is able to withstand concussive blasts from Iron Man's gauntlets and chest that would otherwise cause massive internal hemorrhaging, coma, and death to a normal person, while it would likely give an non-suited-Steve deep tissue bruising and knock him out of the battle.
Tony also added a modification to his combat gloves that allow the shield to return to Steve mid-battle, a la Mjolnir. He'll likely never admit that this has been his single favorite upgrade in all the various renditions of his suit.
Steve also still has the original WWII uniform he stole back from the Smithsonian.... because, let's be honest, he's a sucker for the classics.

BIOGRAPHICAL SUMMARY
Steven Grant Rogers was born to Sarah Rogers on Independence Day, 1918, after his father, Joseph "Joey" Rogers, was killed in action in WWI. His mother died of pneumonia shortly thereafter. He was brought to an orphanage in Brooklyn and raised there.
At this orphanage was where he met James Buchanan "Bucky" Barnes (CODE NAME: WINTER SOLDIER). It is understood that the boys have been close friends since. James, hereto-after referred to as 'Bucky' or 'Barnes', protected Captain Rogers, hereto-after referred to as 'Steve' or 'Rogers', from the bullies that plagued him both at the orphanage and at the schools they attended together. Barnes stated that he was impressed by Rogers' resilience in the face of so many enemies.

At some point during adolescence, it is believed that Steve and Bucky may have shared feelings that were not appropriate to express at that time. Rogers has been interviewed on his relation to Barnes and whether said relation goes beyond platonic friendship, and has gone on the record as refusing to comment, citing that the information is not necessary to national security. Request for redactment accepted.
Steve attended George Washington High School in Brooklyn, New York City with Bucky from 1932 to 1936 before Steve went on alone to begin classes at Auburndale Art School, also in Brooklyn, from 1937 to 1938. He learned of the America joining World War II via his art teacher and immediately dropped out to commit his full energy to enlisting.
Bucky trained him for two weeks at Goldie's Boxing Gym, but Rogers was deemed an inadequate physical specimen (Classified F4) and declined. He is known to have gone to various other enlistment offices, as well as forged new identities in several additional attempts (which also failed). Barnes successfully enlisted and awaited deployment.
After being declined multiple times, Steve went to the cinema to catch a picture in an effort to take his mind off of things. A wartime propaganda advertisement before the film detailing what the average American citizen not on the front-lines or overseas could do to aid the war effort. After a gentleman began heckling the screen, Steve attempted to quiet him down, but only succeeded in earning himself a beat down in the alley after both refused to back down.
Barnes chased off the bully and admonished Steve for his rash actions, but the two later attended an event show-casing futuristic technologies - each bringing dates. One of the exhibits was a young Howard Stark revealing his prototype for a hovering automobile, which appeared to be ill-prepared for public viewing, as it malfunctioned and collapsed onto the stage. Steve took the opportunity to slip away from his friend and the young women, the latter of whom he was noticeably awkward around.
Undeterred by his previous failures, Rogers sought out an enlistment officer and once again began attempting to sign up for the war effort. However, Barnes pulled him aside and argued with him, warning that forging official records was a crime and that he could get himself arrested.
Fortunately for Steve, the conversation was over-heard by Dr. Abraham Erskine, a German scientist that had emigrated to the United States to be away from the Nazis. Dr. Erskine asked Steve why he wanted to kill Nazis, but after some thought, Steve answered that he didn't wish to kill anyone. However, he just didn't like bullies no matter where they were from. Convinced of his inner worth, the doctor chose Rogers for the experimental super-soldier program (CODENAME: PROJECT REBIRTH) that he was overseeing for the Strategic Scientific Reserve, who then readily agreed.
Rogers was sent to Camp Lehigh in Wheaton, New Jersey for training. There, he was the subject of much ridicule by the physically superior recruits, most prominently by Private Gilmore Hodge. Agent Margeret "Peggy" Carter and Colonel Chester Phillips over-saw the physical training despite the latter's reluctance. Rogers quickly made a name for himself beyond the grueling drills of boot camp by capitalizing on his intelligence, advanced problem-solving skills, and dogged determination.
Colonel Phillips continued to voice his disagreement of Dr. Erskine's choice until Steve displayed self-sacrificial bravery by leaping onto what he thought was a live grenade. The evening before the experiment was to begin in earnest, Dr. Erskine revealed to Rogers that the first test subject of this project had been the Nazi officer, Johann Schmidt (CODENAME: REDSKULL), and that the results had brought out the worst in him, but assured Steve that the same fate would not befall him, since he was 'inherently a good man.' The scientist also stated that they should have a drink after the experiment was a success, knowing that in all likely-hood that alcohol would no longer affect Rogers after the serum had been injected into him.
After explaining to the present officers and officials observing in the room above, Dr. Erskine and Mr. Stark began the procedure, injecting the serum into every major muscle group, and then subjecting Steve to a certain type of radiation to activate it. The procedure began as planned, but the immense pain experienced by Rogers, evident by his screams from within the capsule, threatened to stop it until he requested that it continue.
It was successful, and Steve emerged from the capsule leaps and bounds from his former sickly body. Unfortunately, a HYDRA mole had infiltrated the secret base (located in Brooklyn). He shot Dr. Erskine and fled with the remaining vial of the super soldier serum, but Steve gave chase, running barefoot through the streets and using a taxi cab door as a shield to block gunfire. Peggy tried to shoot the mole as he drove directly at her, but Steve tackled her to safety.
In the end, the vial was shattered, and the HYDRA mole revealed his origins before biting into a cyanide capsule and perishing.
